Hi all. I was wondering if any of you are having problems with JAWS 8.0. It doesn't seem to want to read edit fields for me. For instance, when I'm on here, playing anagrams, with JAWS 6.2, I'd just tab to the edit field, but with 8.0, it doesn't say "edit" or anything when I get to the edit field. Are any of you having similar problems?

Well, not the same problem you're having. Another way to get to that edit field is to press e, making sure that JAWS isn't in forms mode. The one problem I have on this site only is that if I tab to the Zonepage link, sometimes it'll say the name of the last visitted link. Other times, if I go to capitalize a letter, it'll say something like "this feature is only available when using the PC cursor in the Internet." Give the E a try, and see if you don't move more quickly around edit fields.

please report these bugs. I've reported this problem of tabbing and hering information around the link, but not the link itself. This is an issue with the new document object model server. Supposedly it was introduced for Vista compatibility.

Another question. Are any of you having trouble with JAWS reading words that have dashes in the middle of them? I've noticed that it doesnt' want to read these words in full. It just wants to read the first part of the word, and that's all.

I mostly have issues with outlook express where it doesn't recognize the edit field when composing and some other things like sometimes I have to close OE and reopen because jaws won't read the message.

Where do you go to report bugs, or what may be a bug, to Freedom Scientific?

You can go to www.freedomscientific.com to their support page. There are options to call in a problem and another one to send in email descriptions of problems. In this case, I would use the email form: if they are true to form, you might or might not get a response, but it's documented.
